Tensions escalated in Salem, Oregon, after conservative livestreamer Thomas Allen, known online as @Tommy4Trump420, was reportedly chased by a group of student protesters while covering an organized anti-ICE school walkout near the Oregon State Capitol.
According to witnesses and video circulating online, Allen and a small group of supporters traveled to the Capitol to document the demonstration. The event, described as a coordinated anti-ICE walkout involving students from multiple schools, drew a sizable crowd to the downtown area.
Footage appears to show tensions rising between the livestreamer and some protesters. At one point, Allen and others with him are seen retreating from a crowd that follows them down the street. The group ultimately entered a nearby Safeway location roughly a block away, where they reportedly waited until police arrived.
It remains unclear what specifically sparked the confrontation or whether any arrests were made. Authorities have not yet released a detailed statement outlining the sequence of events.
Demonstrations involving immigration policy have become increasingly heated nationwide, particularly when opposing political groups are present. While the right to protest is protected, confrontations can escalate quickly when emotions run high.
Supporters of Allen argue he was exercising his First Amendment rights by documenting a public event. Critics of his presence suggest that livestreamers often attend politically charged gatherings knowing tensions may flare.
As of now, the situation appears to have de-escalated once law enforcement responded.
The full encounter — including the moments leading up to the chase — was captured on video.
