NYPD Officer Injured After Being Struck in the Face With Ice

An officer with the New York City Police Department was injured after being struck in the face with a chunk of ice, according to video and eyewitness accounts circulating online.

Footage appears to show the officer being hit directly near the eye area. Immediately afterward, he becomes visibly disoriented and appears to be in significant pain. Observers report redness, swelling, and scratches to his face, along with temporary vision impairment.

Witnesses say the impact caused the officer to lose his balance momentarily as he attempted to regain composure.

It is unclear at this time who threw the object or whether any arrests have been made. Authorities have not yet released a full public statement detailing the severity of the injury or potential charges.

Medical experts note that being struck near the eye with a hard object — even ice — can cause temporary blindness, corneal scratches, swelling, and in severe cases, long-term vision damage.

The incident has sparked debate online about escalating confrontations involving law enforcement and the risks officers face while on duty.

The investigation remains ongoing.
